ABOUT

The Soil,Water & Environmental Conservation foundation ( SWECF KENYA), started August 2018. It was formed by the coming together of self help groups made by communities in northern eastern part of Kenya through the founder   Victor mutunga . The aim of forming the organization was to ; 1. To ensure there is enough water to communities by supporting through doing water projects i.e sand dams , earth dams,rock catchments, shallow Wells,bore boreholes, concrete tanks/ Hand wash programs 2.Food security programs. The areas we are focusing they receive little amount of rainfall leading to draught and community suffers alot .we implement food security programs to support them 3.Environmental conservation programs.we train the communities about environment and how to conserve. were  we do afforestation program,and land management programs,new agriculture technology and the way to conserve. 4.Disaster risk reduction programs 5.Christianity and orphan programs.we spread t...

SWECF DRY- LANDFARMING TECHNIQUES With limited access to water, SWECF  has engaged the use of Dry-land Farming Techniques (DFT) to boost the capacity of local farmers. DFT is a method for the cultivation of crops when irrigation is not possible. These techniques are effective when the right crops are selected, limited moisture is stored in the soil properly, and growing methods make the best use of this moisture. By implementing DFT, farmers are able to strengthen their probability of harvesting crops, even when the rains fail to come DFT Technologies in Brief Zai Pits A zai pit is a planting hole with a length, width, and depth of 60cm each. The pits are dug during the dry season so that top soil can be mixed with the decomposed organic matter underneath, and then refilled into the pit.
